THE POTTER'S HOUSE PURPOSE

Spiritually: To provide...

children with a stable Christian environment that encourages a healthy and positive understanding of a loving God and His world, fosters compassion for others, and promotes a sense of personal destiny.  Caregivers encourage children to be aware that God has a specific and fulfilling plan for each life, working to recognize and develop each child’s talents and interests, with the goal of helping each one to eventually reach his/her full potential.  A weekly Bible theme and scripture are taught in classrooms and in weekly chapels with drama, music, and puppets.

Intellectually: To assist...

children in developing the foundational skills necessary for a very successful future school experience.  Children learn from the activities enjoyed during the preschool morning, when weekly themes, letters, numbers, shapes, and colors are explored.  The curriculum is based on the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards, in order to appropriately provide opportunities to develop knowledge in language arts, math, science, and social studies.  The caregiving staff is involved in ongoing training to increase their knowledge in this area and to inspire creativity in the classroom for the benefit of the children.   Music and art opportunities are included as part of the typical daily routine.

Socially: To prepare...

children to separate temporarily from parents with the least amount of stress possible, develop trust and respect for caregivers, and to meet and make friends with peers.  Careful and consistent encouragement, and modeling and providing options  for dealing effectively with others in everyday challenging situations builds a firm basis for developing solid, healthy relationships for the future.  Sharing, taking turns, learning to read social cues, respecting personal space and property, showing empathy toward others, making wise choices,  etc., are all vital skills that lead to becoming a participant of a caring community.

Physically: To provide....

children with a safe, healthy, and pleasant learning atmosphere, with well balanced, ample, state approved meals and snacks, plenty of exercise to stimulate both large and small muscle development, and adequate rest daily.  The Potter’s House enjoys a fenced playground area, a full sized gym, an indoor playroom, individual classrooms, and a cafeteria.
